How do plans and the 3-day trial work?
All three plans include the same study features and all eight tracks. Planned Canadian prices are C$9.99 weekly, C$24.99 monthly and C$59.99 every three months. The three-month price is charged in one payment. The App Store release is in preparation; Apple will show the actual price and eligibility before confirmation.
After onboarding, choose a plan and explicitly confirm with Apple. Eligible subscribers receive a three-day introductory trial, followed automatically by the selected plan’s regular charge. There is one introductory trial per subscription group, across all plans. There is no ongoing free study tier.
How do I cancel or avoid the first charge?
Open PermitPath → Settings → Manage subscription, or iPhone or iPad Settings → your name → Subscriptions → PermitPath. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial or current billing period ends to avoid the next charge. Deleting the app does not cancel billing.
Access follows Apple’s verified subscription status. A cancelled trial may end early; do not assume it will remain available for the full three days. See Apple’s cancellation instructions. Apple handles billing and refund requests; refund eligibility is determined by Apple and applicable law.
I subscribed already. How do I restore access?
Use Restore Purchases on the subscription screen or in Settings, with the Apple Account used for the original purchase and an internet connection. A pending purchase unlocks access after Apple approves it. An expired, refunded or revoked subscription does not grant study access.
Your progress is kept on your device when access ends. Support, policies, subscription management and backup export remain available from Subscription help & your data. Restoring purchases restores access, not study records; use your study backup to move those to another device.
Where should I start?
Choose the exact examination name from your booking, complete onboarding and choose a subscription plan, then open Today and begin your daily plan. Read a guide, follow its source references and check your understanding with a few questions.
For an introduction to the app, open Settings → Take the guided tour. The tour walks through Today, Learn, Reference, Practice and Settings. You can replay it whenever you need it.
What do the daily study goal and exam date do?
Your daily study goal is the time you want to make room for each day. It helps size a plan of reading, review cards and practice. The minutes are an estimate, not a countdown or a measurement of time spent in the app.
Completing the planned activities moves the plan forward. An optional exam date helps shape preparation suggestions, with more revision as the date approaches. Change either in Settings.
How do Smart and fixed-time reminders work?
After you allow notifications, Smart timing uses recent study-session times stored on this device. It starts at 7 p.m. and can adapt after three study days. You can instead choose Fixed time, select study days or turn reminders off in Settings.
Reminders follow the selected exam. Completing today’s plan skips that day’s study reminder. A past exam date pauses reminders until you update it. Open the app regularly to refresh the schedule; it schedules up to 28 days ahead, within your verified subscription access period. Study reminders pause when access is inactive. Reopen the app after renewal to refresh them.
Why didn’t a reminder appear?
In PermitPath’s Settings, check the reminder status and the next scheduled time. Confirm your selected days and exam date, and whether today’s plan is already complete. Use the 10-second test reminder to check delivery.
In your device’s Settings → Notifications → PermitPath, allow notifications and the alert locations you want. Also check Focus and Scheduled Summary. These system settings can silence or delay alerts.
Scheduled local notifications can appear while PermitPath is open or closed; the app does not need to remain on screen. Reopen it after changing notification settings so the schedule can refresh.
How do I move or back up my study progress?
Open Settings → Export study backup and save the file somewhere you control. The export contains every exam track, including notes, bookmarks, review progress, results and recorded study-session times.
On the destination device, use Settings → Restore a study backup. Restoring replaces the current records across all tracks, so export those first if you want to keep them. Records do not sync automatically between devices. Reminder preferences and iOS notification permission are not part of a study export.
Does PermitPath work offline?
With verified, unexpired subscription access, the app’s bundled guides, practice, saved study records and reference volumes work offline. An internet connection is needed to subscribe, restore purchases or receive updated subscription information from Apple. Access is checked against Apple’s verified transactions; an offline session does not extend an expired trial or subscription. External websites and sending a support email need an internet connection. The availability or download of system read-aloud voices is managed by iOS.
Which reference edition does the app use?
The bundled reference is the 2024 Building Code Compendium, January 16, 2025 update. In the app, see Settings → Edition, sources & acknowledgements for details and source links.
Confirm the edition and amendments required for your examination. Use the original PDF for tables, figures, formulas and full context. Short guides and reformatted text do not replace the full syllabus-selected source.
Is this an official exam app?
No. PermitPath is an independent study aid from SKO Software Inc.. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Ontario, Humber Polytechnic or the National Research Council of Canada.
Practice questions are original study material, not official or previous exam questions. Scores do not guarantee a pass or confer professional registration. Use the app for preparation and follow the examination provider’s current rules for permitted references during the actual exam.
How can I report an issue or a possible content error?
Email support@skosoftware.com with the exam track, the screen or question involved, what happened and what you expected. Include your app version, device model and iOS version if relevant. For a possible content error, include the source reference and why you believe it needs review.
You may attach a screenshot after removing personal information. Please do not send your complete study backup or private notes unless they are needed and you choose to share them. The app’s question-sharing feature opens the system share sheet; nothing is sent until you choose a destination.
How do I manage or remove my data?
You can change study details and notes in the app. To keep a copy of your records, export a backup. Deleting the app removes its local data; offloading the app can preserve it. Device backups and files you exported are managed separately through your device, storage or backup provider.
